U19 WC: A FABULOUS START FOR INDIA

On a day when the senior Indian cricket team lost miserably to Australia, the under 19 team made a fabulous start to the under 19 World Cup in Kuala Lampur. The Indians posted a more than competitive 280 runs in their 50 overs against Papua New Guinea. All the top four batsmen came up with good performances. Srivatsava top scored with 83 while the opening pair came up with a century run partnership off 21 overs which laid a good platform for the middle order. Taruwar Kohli and Virat Kohli made 40. goswami made a very patient 58 off 96 balls and pandey played a cameo knock towards the end to take India to 280.
Papua New Guinea never looked like matching India’s performance. Wickets fell like nine pins as they were all out for a paltry 85 runs. Iqbal Abdulla claimed 3 wickets for 2 runs and cleaned off the tail. Sangwan and Kaul bowled impressive spells to claim 3 wickets among them. The Indians have taken the first step towards the cup convincingly
