A MISMATCH OF A MATCH - DEAD RUBBER

Chawla bowled his usual leggie. The ambitious HongKong skipper danced down the track to take on the young kid, only to see the ball spin away from his blade and Dhoni completed the formalities. But the reactions said it all. Chawla had no more than signs of a smile on his face and Dhoni didn’t even bother congratulating the bowler. That was the way the match was. It was such a mismatch between the sides and HongKong would be glad to get back home after the drubbing.

Hongkong lost the match even before it started, Dhoni winning the toss and electing to bat. Viru and Gambhir continued from where they left off at the Kitply cup and soon it was mayhem for the HongKong team in the field. And as is their usual habit, Viru and Gambhir left without converting their superb starts to centuries yet again. In came Dhoni and Raina and soon it was raining boundaries. The Indians managed a bit short of 400, the batsmen getting a good practice session.

Less said about the HongKong batting is the better and I wouldn’t try to express their debacle at the hands of Chawla and co. This should be a confidence booster for the youngsters like Raina and Chawla but nothing more. Overall a predictable match ended on a predictable note and the Indians had a short day at work.
